There is no need to believe
in God when we feel
the soul, which the body gives to us,
and, I believe that today nothing’s as lovely
as a woman singing
from the kitchen,
the arms of her blouse, pulled up to her elbows,
her hair curled back behind her ears,
her small hands
kneading through thick dough
on a walnut cutting board,
forming sculptures of flour in white air —
all of which I can not see,
but know is there
because this is is what I have been given
to hear.
personal and profound and a pure pleasure to read and re-read
Thank you.
